Here are things to note while you make transaction with Alipay:
- Recipient's citizenship
- Recipient is a Chinese citizen, or
- Recipient is a Hong Kong/Macau resident with a Mainland Travel Permit (can only receive money into their Alipay balance).
- Recipient's Alipay account
- Make sure that the recipient's Alipay ID (email/phone number) is valid.
- Recipient’s Alipay account must be verified to receive the money. If the recipient has never verified their account before, the verification link will be sent to the recipient via email/SMS. See how to verify Alipay account.
- So, make sure the recipient has verified their Alipay account before the transaction expires (you can check the expiry time of your transaction in Topremit app) or the transaction will automatically be rejected.
- If the recipient wants to receive the money into their Alipay balance, recipient needs to open Alipay account balance within 24 hours since the transaction was created by filling in the following information:
- Photocopy of recipient's ID card
- Address details
- Job industry
- The relationship between the sender and the recipient
Afterward, the recipient must sign the e-contract and grant permission to receive money into their Alipay balance.
- If the recipient want to receive the money into their bank account, make sure the recipient has linked their card with Alipay within 24 hours since the transaction was created. See how to link the card.
- Recipient's name
- Recipient should fill in the purpose of transaction and their relationship with the sender in accordance with the information that the sender provided to Topremit. Make sure that the purpose of transaction and the relationship between sender and recipient is relevant.
- Recipient's name must be in alphabetical letters (e.g. Li Xiao Long).
- Supporting documents
- Please submit any supporting document to fulfill the regulation and policy requirement from China if Alipay asks for any. Recipient will have up to 24 hours after getting the initial receipt of in-app notification to provide the supporting documents to Alipay. Here are some documents that recipient can prepare to be submitted:
- For transaction with the purpose of purchasing goods/services, submit the invoice with a signature or a stamp.
- For transaction with the purpose of family/living expenses, please submit residence booklet, marriage certificate, etc.

How much is the transfer fee to China with Alipay?
You only have to pay fee of IDR 100,000 for each transaction.
How long will the money arrive/received?
Money will arrive in 20 minutes if your transaction has been validated before 16.00 (GMT+7).
How much money can I transfer with Alipay?
The minimum transaction amount is CNY 10.
The daily limit (soft limit) that you can transfer is CNY 50,000 per recipient.
- Transfer limit to Alipay account is CNY 20,000 per transaction.
- Transfer limit to bank account linked to Alipay is CNY 50,000 per transaction.
The annual limit (hard limit) that you can transfer is CNY 500,000 per recipient.
However, please take note that every Alipay user has a different transaction limit. Make sure that the recipient’s Alipay is enough to receive the money.
Additional notes:
- For transaction with family living expenses and savings/send to self purpose, your recipient can only receive max. 10 times/month (this limit is cumulative for both purposes, not limited to Topremit).
Can I send more than the stated amount in a day?
You are allowed to send money more than the soft limit (CNY 50,000) in a day by providing some supporting documents from the recipient to ensure your transaction's security. However, you are not allowed to exceed the hard limit (CNY 500,000) per year to the same recipient.
