Things to note before sending money to WeChat Pay:
- Fill in the recipient's phone number registered at WeChat Pay correctly.
- Make sure the recipient's name matches the name in their WeChat Pay account.
- Make sure the recipient's WeChat Pay account is verified and linked to their bank account.
- The recipient will receive a verification link from WeChat Pay via SMS to confirm the transaction.
- The verification link will direct the recipient to Weihuikuan menu to link their bank account.
- The recipient can explore the Weihuikan menu in Weixin (WeChat Pay) then select "Global Remittance" and select "Receive Money".
- In some cases, the recipient might be asked to attach supporting documents to be reviewed by the WeChat Pay team.
- If the document is approved, the money will be sent to the recipient's bank account.
- If the document is rejected, the transaction will fail and the money will be refunded to the sender.
- The recipient may ignore and cancel the transaction. By doing this, the transaction will fail and the fee cannot be refunded.
- In some cases, the recipient might be asked to attach supporting documents to be reviewed by the WeChat Pay team.
- Make sure that the relationship between the sender and the recipient is family (husband/wife, children, parent, sibling/brother/sister, relative, myself) since the recipient will be asked to fill in their personal details before receiving money in their WeChat Pay.
Notes:
- Max. transaction amount:
- CNY 50.000/transaction, and
- CNY 30.000/transaction if you are a Korean citizen.
- Transactions to the same recipient are limited to max. CNY 500,000/year and max. 5 times/month. This regulation is applied to all sending-money platforms—not limited to Topremit (according to Chinese government regulations).
