Things to note before sending money to WeChat Pay

  1. Recipients can be of any nationality, as long as they have an eligible WeChat Pay account to receive money.
  2. Make sure to enter the recipient's phone number (Weixin ID) registered with WeChat Pay correctly.
  3. Make sure the recipient's name matches the name on their WeChat Pay account.
  4. Make sure the relationship between the sender and the recipient is family (husband/wife, children, parent, sibling/brother/sister, relative, myself).
  5. First-time recipients must set up their receiving account. For instructions on setting up a receiving account, please access our FAQ here.
  6. Recipients must select a receiving method (WeChat Pay balance or a bank account linked to WeChat Pay). If they choose a bank account, make sure their bank card is linked within 24 hours after the account setup or after the transaction is created.
  7. Recipients must complete their personal information and select the same purpose as the one the sender chose on Topremit.
  8. Recipients must confirm the transaction within 48 hours if they are receiving money from a new sender, or from a different remittance for the first time.
    • To read further instructions on how to confirm transactions, please access our FAQ here.
    • Make sure the relationship the recipient enters matches the one you provided to Topremit.
  9. In some cases, the recipient may be asked to upload supporting documents within 48 hours after the request, to be reviewed by the WeChat Pay team.
    • If the documents are approved, the money will be sent to the recipient's bank account.
    • If the documents are rejected, the transaction will fail and the money will be refunded to the sender.

Recipients may ignore or cancel the transaction. If they do, the transaction will fail and the fee cannot be refunded.
