# Send money to India with UPI

### What is UPI?
UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is an instant payment system in India that allows money to be sent to a recipient using their UPI ID, without needing their bank account details.

### How does UPI work?
When you send money to a recipient's UPI ID, the payment is processed through UPI and sent to the bank account linked to that UPI ID.

### How does the recipient get a UPI ID?
If your recipient doesn't have a UPI ID yet, they can create one in 4 quick steps:
1. Download a UPI-enabled app (such as Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or BHIM).
2. Sign up and link the app to an Indian bank account.
3. Create and verify UPI ID.
4. Share the UPI ID to receive transfers.

### What are the benefits of sending money using UPI?
With UPI, you can:
* **Transfer money in real time:** With Topremit's Instant Speed, money can arrive in just 15 minutes.
* **Send using just a UPI ID:** No need for the recipient's bank account number or IFSC code. Simply enter their UPI ID, the transfer amount, and any other required details.
* **Send money 24/7:** UPI transfers are available at any time, including weekends and holidays.

### Things to note before sending money with UPI:
* Make sure your recipient's UPI ID is valid and active.
* Make sure your recipient's name matches the name registered on the bank account linked to their UPI ID.
